Beneshwer Lok Vikas Sansthan is involved in the running of one primary schools located in Aandpuri block in the Banswara district. The communities within which the children lived identified the necessity of an education in order for the children and community as a whole to progress and approached us for our support. We have since been worked alongside villages to implement access to a primary education. Our other school is geared towards working with children forced into hazardous labour, our ethos is towards the prevention of child labour, through aiding the familial structures in which they live and empowering the children with the provision of vocational training and basic literacy and numeracy skills, enabling more positive futures.
We are working towards a new initiative to provide education in rural communities which utilizes the existing skills of that community to prevent the loss of learnt knowledge, passed through generations, in order to sustain their specific socio economic practices. We believe this is possible by heartening village elders to the value of their practices and providing training, assisting them to pass this information on to younger generations, preserving and nourishing intricate ancient means of living from the land.
